Sports Talk

So after writing my last column, I realized it is very hard to write one about Castleton sports because this will not be read by anyone until Sept. 28. Now, I’ve decided to just write about the national sports scene.

First of all, is anyone else surprised by the 3-0 starts by the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills? Another surprising thing about the NFL is that Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback, Cam Newton, is in the top five in passing yards with 854. That total is second to the one-and-only Tom Brady Yes, it’s no secret that I can’t stand the Patriots, but lately I have been taking an almost non-biased approach to sports. It all started when the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup.

On to the NBA, or lack thereof. Kobe Bryant has been offered a $6.7 million, one-season contract to play for the Italian team Virtus Bologna. The NBA has postponed training camps indefinitely and 43 preseason games were cancelled because it has not reached an agreement with players. With no progress made and players looking to go play somewhere overseas, do not expect to be watching the NBA at all this year. Instead, you can watch a lot of college basketball which is much more entertaining anyways.

We try to shoot as much sports footage as we can, and we are always looking for people who are interested in filming sports or producing.
