Men’s tennis defeats Sage College 9-0
The men’s tennis team won its first match against Sage College with a perfect match of 9-0, improving the team’s season record to 1-2.
In singles play, Castleton freshman Stew Quinn defeated Alex Cabrera 6-1, 6-0. Adam McCaffery defeated Sage’s Rob Hansen 6-4, 6-2.
Chris Belanger defeated Grard Beaudin by a perfect score of 6-0, 6-0. Jeremy Reppin defeated Cory Alvarado by a perfect 6-0, 6-0, and Zac Conlogue defeated Sean Alvarado 6-0 6-2.
In doubles competition, Spartan teammates Stew Quinn and Adam McCaffery defeated Alex Cabrera and Rob Hansen 8-2. CSC’s Chris Belanger and Matt Trombly defeated Grard Beaudin and Mark Castillo by a perfect 8-0. Corey Kimball and Mike Divis defeated Sage’s Chris Darrow and Cory Alvarado.
Prior to this matchup, the Spartans had faced Norwich University and Colby-Sawyer where they hadn’t come out as on top. Norwich defeated the Spartans 8-1, while Colby-Sawyer blanked the Spartans 9-0.
“It was tough starting out at 0-2,” said Jeremy Reppin, “but we knew that our first opponents were the toughest we’d see all year.”
Their next two matches are against Norwich on March 28, and March 31 against Thomas College.
“Now, we look forward to the heart of our schedule,” said Reppin, “and hopefully gaining some consistency.”
