Explore your own fashion style

When it comes to self-expression, many people will find it in different ways whether it be art, music, sports, or writing. But everyone is able to similarly express who they are through their clothes.

Style and fashion is a personal thing, which is the best part about it. The way I dress isn’t going to be the same way you dress, and that’s okay. Fashion isn’t supposed to be one thing, it never was. That’s why Coco Chanel. Alessandro Michele, Karl Lagerfeld, Virgil Abloh, and so many designers are successful.

They make and design clothes the way they want to design clothes. And each of their collections are different from each other, and different each time.

I know that for me, I have a weird sense of style. And yes, multiple people have come up to me and told me that. And I love that, because that’s exactly what I want.

I want people to look at my outfits and think ‘oh, her pants are cool,’ or ‘huh, is she really wearing a chain with a white blouse?’

That’s what makes me happy, it is my way of expressing who I am as a person and another creative outlet. I love clothes and the amount of money I’ve spent on articles of clothing is scary, sorry mom. I love to create new outfits, talking about designers, and exploring new trends.

Some people are different. Some people could care less about what they wear when they’re walking to their 8 a.m. class. Maybe some people are in between, they care about how they look but they have a comfort zone. And that’s okay! Because it’s you!

If you want to wear rainbow crocs with sweatpants, do it! If you want to wear skinny jeans and a crop top, do it! If you want to wear a sequin top and rainbow pants, do it!

There is no right or wrong way to dress, especially in a small town in Vermont when you’re going to school. You don’t even need to spend a lot of money to look good. Designer doesn’t always mean style. I’m looking at you Yeezy. And have you seen a thrift haul before? I die!

The most important thing is that you’re comfortable, whether it be physically or mentally. If you’re comfortable and happy in the way you dress, don’t let anyone tell you that you are doing something wrong. Don’t let anyone get in the way of your self-expression.

And, if you want to explore your style a little more, I am always here to help.
