It’s been a rough year for Ariana, she needs a break

May 22, 2017, a terrorist bombing.

Sept. 7, 2018, Mac Miller’s passing.

Oct. 14, 2018, her engagement was broken off.

WILL ARIANA GRANDE EVER CATCH A BREAK?!

Grande has been facing significant life struggles ever since the bombing at her Manchester Arena show in May 2017. She has been overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, depression, and a feeling that she let her whole fan base down.

Little does she know, we’re here for her no matter the circumstance.

The Manchester attack took place on May 22, 2017 at the Manchester Arena in England. The capacity of the building is 14,218 and Grande was only missing 60 people to make it a sold-out show. The show went as planned and all was well and good until the end.

As people started exiting the arena, an explosion came from the foyer. This explosion was heard and seen from blocks away. 22-year-old, Salman Abedi had detonated a homemade shrapnel-based bomb that left 250 people injured and 22 dead.

The explosion caused chaos in the arena and many did their best to flee the scene- not knowing if there was more to come. According to BBC, 240 emergency calls were made that night, 60 ambulances and 400 police officers were on scene.

After mourning, Grande returned to that stage in Manchester to perform a benefit concert for the people lost in the bombing. She donated all of the funds from the show to the families affected. There were numerous artists in attendance including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Mac Miller and others.

The Manchester bombing was the beginning to a downward spiral in her personal life that has also been creeping its way into her career.

Grande continued her Dangerous Woman tour and when it finished, she moved onto a new project, “Sweetener.”

Grande released her fourth studio album, “Sweetener,” on Aug. 17, 2018. The pop singer created songs about her previous relationship with Mac Miller, how she deals with her mental health problems and her new love, Pete Davidson.

The track titled “Better Off” has lyrics referring to Grande staying with Miller through his drug addiction, but realizing she’s better off without him.

“You keep insisting I listen to your proposition

I dismiss them all, no offense, yeah.”

Even though Grande has made it public with a song on her album that she has moved on from Miller, her world came crashing down again because of his death caused by a drug overdose.

After it was released Miller was dead, everyone was wondering what Grande was thinking or feeling. She made a post to her Instagram a day later of a black and white photo of the rapper, which people have speculated Grande took herself.

After a couple more days, she made another post to her Instagram, a video. She mentions in the caption the heartbreak she was going through at the time and reflected on the good times. The post’s caption finished with:

“I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted too. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”

The awful thing was she had to disable comments from these posts due to death threats.

Grande was in New York at the time of the rappers passing. Death threats were being sent in mass amounts and Grande did what she could in order to defuse the situation.

With the loss of another loved one, the “No Tears Left To Cry” singer cried on the shoulder of her fiancé, Davidson. Davidson is known best for his roles in “Saturday Night Live” skits and his stand-up comedy shows. She relied heavily on Davidson for mental support, but things continued to pitch downhill for her.

Just a little over a month after Miller’s passing, on Oct. 14, 2018 Grande’s engagement with Davidson ended. And now Davidson is joking about the split.

On top of all the stress in her personal life, the singer has her everyday pressures put on her by the public too. She’s always been under fire for the way she looks.

She is mostly criticized for the way she dresses. She’s habitually shamed for the provocative nature of what she wears.

In her newly released video for her song “God Is A Woman,” there is a scene where she is sitting on a stool while men throw derogatory terms at her. Her video included other scenes people saw as controversial due to recreation of art pieces which were originally men.

The fact that since last May Grande hasn’t been able to catch a break is concerning. A lot of people would say they don’t like her and that she may deserve it, but no one deserves to be the target of a terrorist attack and endure mass amounts of heartbreak.

This girl needs to take a long break just to recover from all of the awful things happening in her life. And if you’re not a fan of her work it’s understandable. It’s not for everyone. But you can’t argue with the fact that she’s had it pretty rough recently and deserves a break.
