Castleton ’fit check

Can you walk me through what you’re wearing?

Yeah. So, today, I really wanted to wear this red shirt in particular with this sweater vest that I got two weeks ago from H&M. Usually I tend not to shop there, but if I do, I feel like I want to make it last, so I got this one… I matched it with a red, I believe this is Ralph Lauren, long sleeve and some black pants that I also got from H&M. And these shoes I got on discount at a shoe department I believe in South Burlington, I don’t remember which one. One of my favorite pairs. And then also, I accessorized with some rings.

How would you describe your sense of style?

I’m still trying to figure that out. I think what I’ve been trying to emulate is the, I guess, preppy sort of fashion. But a lot of it depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to dress more casually, and I do like dressing up… I think a lot of it’s about, sort of, bold presentation than it is about certain style, I guess.

Do you have a favorite article of clothing that you own? What is it?

Men’s pants suck, and the reason I say this is because there’s not a lot of variety but also, I’m 5’5” and the waist size and height of the pants I try never fit me. I remember this one time, I was going thrifting actually, and I found this pair of red pants that fit me perfectly and they’re probably the number one thing I love most in my entire closet. Because they’re red pants, but also because they’re one of two [pairs] that really fit me.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

I haven’t gone shopping for new clothes in a long time, I think that’s kind of a testament to how comfortable I am in my style… I’ve tried going to, like, retail stores, but my issue there is that there’s not a lot of diversity in terms of things I like. Mainly I tried to do a lot of thrifting when I could, here and there, and kind of found pieces that I like. I think the last place I bought a lot of major things from was H&M.

What’s the most recent article of clothing you bought?

It was the sweater vest, actually. And I got a tan shirt which I’m still trying to figure out how to style.

How long do you take to plan your outfit in the morning?

Solid 20 minutes. I’m always at least, like, two minutes late for classes because I can’t decide what to wear.

What’s a piece of fashion advice that you swear by?

If you’re shopping for something new, make sure you can at least make three different outfits with it. I think that’s saved me a lot of time, because there were times when I saw something I really wanted and I was like “I’m gonna buy it, it’s gonna look really good on me” and then I realized “what can I actually wear this with?” …If anything, that’s helped me a lot. It’s limited how many things I buy and also forced me to get more creative with how I style my clothing.
