Suspect named in Castleton stabbing

Three Castleton University students were stabbed by another student earlier this weekend at an off-campus party that resulted in an arrest and a hospitalization.

The incident, which took place early Sunday morning at 40 Mechanic Street, involved three victims and one suspect, and according to police reports, the suspect was involved in a fight with several people leading to three people being stabbed.

The suspect, 20-year-old Karl H. Buch, was taken into custody without incident and cited for Aggravated Assault, according to Castleton Police Chief Peter Mantello.

The victims were transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment, where two were treated and released and the third was admitted and in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
