Public Safety director releases statement about off-campus stabbing

Campus Community,

I want to inform you that Castleton Police responded early this morning to a stabbing incident off-campus in the Town of Castleton involving a suspect and three victims.

A Castleton University student was arrested in connection with the incident. The victims were transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment. Two victims were treated and released while the third victim was admitted and is in stable condition.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and cited for Aggravated Assault. Castleton Police Department is continuing the investigation. We are unsure of the relationship between the people involved. However, we don’t believe there is any ongoing threat to the community.

Nothing is more important than the safety of our community, and our thoughts are with those who were injured.

Director of Public Safety Keith Molinari released this statement on Sunday. Spartan reporters are currently working to get more information.
