Quenneville leads Spartans to second straight victory
Senior Alexis Quenneville’s 19 points on Saturday was enough to guide the Castleton women’s basketball team to a 75-65 road victory at the University of Southern Maine.
Going an impressive 6-8 shooting from the field, including two made three’s, Quennevile recorded her third highest point total this season.
Chipping in on the offensive production for Castleton were junior Brooke Raiche and freshman Elise Magro with 17 and 16 points respectively. For the Huskies, Victoria Harris led Southern Maine in scoring with 23 points and eight rebounds.
The 14-9 (9-5 Little East Conference) Spartans have now won two games in a row in a crucial time of the year, with only two games remaining in the regular season.
The Spartans went 1-1 since the last issue, with a 30-point loss on the road to Western Connecticut State University on Feb. 8 and a 70-67 win over UMass Boston at Glenbrook Gymnasium on Feb.12.
Castleton’s win over UMass Boston was highlighted by scoring from Raiche and Magro, who finished with 24 and 17 points respectively.
The Spartans will take on Plymouth State on the road at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and return home for the season finale against Eastern Connecticut State University at 1 p.m.
