Fitness club comes to Four Corners

A new fitness club and adjacent nutrition center have been introduced to Castleton Corners, just a short drive from Castleton University.

As you walk into the brightly colored Total Fitness studio, you can hear the music playing loudly over the speaker as Elanit Greenman prepares to teach a Zumba class, one of the many classes offered.

“Everyone calls me Mama E, that’s the easy part,” says Greenman, one of the owners of the two new businesses in the building that formerly housed a tattoo parlor.

Total Fitness offers free Zumba classes to college students, with Greenman as the certified instructor. The fitness club recently had its grand opening, offering sample Zumba classes that will be taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m.

It will also be offering aerobics and toning classes, and Greenman hopes to offer day classes starting in October.

“I’m 67 years old, so for me this is really an exciting thing. I mean what would I do, sit around in a rocking chair!” Greenman said.

Next to the fitness club, is All-Star Nutrition, the other business owned and newly opened by Greenman and Mike Robertucci, business partners and friends who have known each other for over 20 years.

Robertucci has lived in Benson for a few years after moving to Vermont from Daytona, Florida, where the business partners already own four other fitness clubs. Greenman followed him saying she was looking for a change of scenery.

“When I say change of scenery I’m talking change of scenery, I don’t fool around, ” she said with a laugh. “I went from 114 above to 114 below in temperature!”

All-Star Nutrition, although technically a separate business from the fitness studio, is in the same building and open Monday through Friday from 7a.m. to 2 p.m.  The nutrition center, lined from wall to wall with Herbalife shakes and merchandise, is meant to help people get on a better track with their health and lifestyle.

“The purpose is that we want to teach people proper nutrition,” said Robertucci. “If you put the right oil in your car, it’ll run forever.”

All-Star Nutrition offers over 50 different Herbalife shakes, as well as access to many of the other products provided by the multi-level marketing company, guided by the help of the business owners. The business offers wellness evaluations and weight loss challenges with all fitness levels welcome.

Castleton student Deni Musaefendic, a sophomore at the university, did not know about the new business at first, but was excited for a new fitness opportunity in the area.

“It seems somewhat interesting and could be fun. I don’t see why I wouldn’t check it out,” Musaefendic said.

The Castleton business owners are excited about their new endeavors, and hope to make a positive impact on the community. With over five years working in fitness and nutrition, they are passionate and eager to continue.

“We’re looking forward to it becoming a community center. A place to have a good time, have a shake, and just kind of be together!” said Greenman.
