SGA elections underway for 2015
The Student Government Association elections are underway to fill seven positions. The openings are for executive vice president, secretary, treasurer and four delegate positions.
The candidates for these positions include Tyler Anderson for treasurer, Hollie Nop for executive vice president and Julia McIntyre, Matt Gay and Amanda Larabee for four delegate positions. The position of secretary currently has no candidates.
Although the positions are essentially uncontested, College Court Advisor Mike Robilotto said they can be contested with write-in votes.
The election tables will be set up in Huden Dinning Hall on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will remain their Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday from 11a.m. 2 p.m
Hannah Locke, the chief justice of the College Court, which handles the election, said new people in these open positions could be a chance for great new ideas.
“I hope those who fill the positions will strive hard to work toward being the voice of the student body and improving our campus,” said Locke.
SGA President Elizabeth Young strongly encourages students to join the SGA and vote in the elections to help make a difference at Castleton.
“I’m really excited about the up coming elections,” said Young. “With change comes challenges, but it’s because of those challenges that we are successful.”
