SGA to resurrect Paint Party

Although it doesn’t look much like spring outside, the Student Government Association and Campus Activities Board are busy planning Spring Weekend.

In year’s past, the most popular part of the whole weekend has been the Paint Party. This year, it will beheld on Saturday April 28 at 10 p.m. in the Shape Gym.

“There was a lot of hype from the first one and the second didn’t meet expectations,” senior Dre Trudeau said.

There was no paint party last year due to its lack of success and attendance the year before, organizers said.

At past events, the parties featured giant buckets of paint with super soakers, so participants are urged to wear something that can get paint on it. Streams of paint are seen flying through the air and covering every dancer.

Senior Saige King has gone to every Paint Party hosted at CU and has always had fun.

“I’ve always looked forward to them. The only critique I have is using something other than a tarp for the floor.  Once it gets covered in paint people fall,” she said.

Organizers say the event may also feature door prizes this year to boost attendance.

There will be more to Spring Week too. The week will start April 21 with a concert.

“We really want to feature local artists,” Student Government President Izzy Gogarty said.

The next weekend will feature the Community Advisor Cookout as well as the famous Duck Day, a magical day where you search for ducks to win prizes.
