WIUV back after months of dead air

Castleton University’s radio station WIUV 91.3 is back on the air as of Jan. 18 after a major windstorm knocked the antenna down last semester.

The WIUV antenna pierced Haskell Hall’s roof, where it was located, calling for immediate repairs to be made.

In order to finish the repairs maintenance crews had to unplug the antenna from the transmitter.

The station officially went off the air on Nov. 9, but WIUV replaced the antenna soon after.

The old antenna was attached to the chimney which had to come down to install a new free standing antenna. This in total cost the university an estimated $14,000 in repairs, Dean Dennis Proulx said.

WIUV is back to having 24/7 radio play time and with the start of a new semester we are always looking for new members.

Whether you want to just play music, host a talk show, talk sports or broadcast live sporting events, there is a place for you live on the air at WIUV 91.3 Castleton.
