Letter to the editor: soundings and studying abroad

As the new manager of the Soundings program and huge advocate of foreign travel, I was dismayed to read about Alex Noonan’s recent difficulties.

I had not previously heard of students being prevented from studying abroad as a result of their Soundings status.

And, while, I am not familiar with the particular details of his situation, I have reached out to Alex and would, similarly, like all Soundings students to know that my fellow Soundings instructors and I are all very much in favor of students pursuing their dreams and that we are here to help you succeed.

As I encouraged Alex to do, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any Soundings-related questions or concerns that I might be able to assist you with!

I cannot promise that you will always get the result you want, but it certainly won’t hurt to get a second opinion or have another set of eyes take a look at your case. Feel free to call me anytime at x1258 or email me at jessica.cowden@castleton.edu.
